The Grilled Asparagus Skewers at Hikawa are in actual fact wrapped with thin slices of pork. The chef controls the timing impeccably. The grilled pork is slightly charred giving it a smoky flavour. The asparagus inside is cooked through and moist. I suppose this theory doesn't work for vegetarians, but I do believe, that adding a tiny bit of meat to vegetable dishes, really seems to bring out its flavours.
Best consumed … during after work drinks with a sweet sake or japanese beer!
